external supervision

My experience as a supervisor began in 2009 when I trained, provided internal supervision, supported and facilitated the professional development needs/requirements for a team of Social Workers. It was during this time that I attended supervision training with the Project Team (Karin Shepard and Chris Thomas).

I have also attended several internal trainings provided by my employing agency to support my role as a supervisor; Signs of Safety (2005), Safety Planning and Three Houses (2011), and Appreciative Inquiry (ongoing). In 2013 I graduated from Te Wānanga o Aotearoa with my Bachelor of Social Work - BiCulturalisim in Practice, in 2022 I graduated with a Certificate in Te Ara Reo Māori (He Pi Ka Pao), and in 2023 I completed my Masters of Social Change Leadership at Melbourne University (Indigenous focus).

In my role as a Manager, I have had the privilege of providing internal supervision for upwards of 30 senior social workers and advocacy workers. In 2019, I began my own private supervision business. Over time, I have provided external supervision to many kaimahi in a range of social service and health care settings.
